Poverty Reduction and MDG Achievement |
Following Turkmenistan’s commitments outlined in the Strategy of Economic, Political and Cultural Development up to 2020 and the Strategy of Socio-Economic Development until 2010 and Nationalized Development Goals, UNDP Country Office has focused on the national capacity development in providing better services to vulnerable groups such as sex workers, prisoners, and intravenous drug users, in monitoring social and living standards in Turkmenistan, in creating opportunities for impoverished rural women to generate income as well as modernizing the accounting and audit systems of the Central Bank. UNDP country office has been steadily bolstering the national government capacity to manage pensions and other social protection schemes for vulnerable groups and worked to integrate the visually and hearing impaired into the workforce through job creation programmes.
