Environment and Sustainable Development |
UNDP Country Office supports the national government in achieving environmental goals through assistance in developing environmental policies and promoting best practices in water and sanitation. UNDP Country Office has been quite successful in assisting the national government to develop Turkmenistan’s capacity to monitor and report on environmental threats. The UNDP projects in this area focus on promoting the revival of degraded land though better land-use techniques, the protection of nature reserves as well as addressing climate change by supporting energy efficiency initiatives and carbon markets. UNDP Country Office also supports integrated water resource management and regional initiatives such as the Caspian Environment Programme, which work on solutions to environmental problems that threaten more than one country.
