UNDP Country Office contributes to strengthening democratic governance in Turkmenistan by supporting the national government’s efforts aimed at building effective and equitable governance. Over the recent years, UNDP Country office has effectively assisted the government of Turkmenistan to strengthen responsive governing institutions and foster inclusive participation. Consistent support is also being offered to national partners to implement democratic governance practices grounded in human rights, gender and anti-corruption. To this effect, a number of projects have been or being implemented in Turkmenistan in the areas of enhancing public administration, increasing public access to information and information technologies, enhancing electoral systems and processes, support to the development of local governance, building of reporting capacity and coordination of AIDS responses.
