About UNDP Procurement

It is increasingly a global tendency within UNDP family that procurement makes up the most of its deliverables. Procurement is the overall process of acquiring goods, civil works and services which includes all functions from the identification of needs, selection and solicitation of sources, preparation and award of contract, and all phases of contract administration through the end of a services’ contract or the useful life of an asset.

In UNDP Turkmenistan, the procurement process lies with the Administrative Unit that oversees solicitation of offers, awarding and management of contracts and purchase orders. UNDP Administrative Unit provides procurement services to government counterparts via Nationally Executed (NEX) and Directly Executed (DEX) Projects, as well as to other UN Agencies upon request. The Administrative Unit also assists Projects to timely develop an annual Procurement Plans, which is the basis for procurement of services and goods during a calendar year.

The Administrative Unit conducts periodical market research to establish a database of suppliers for goods and services. To facilitate the procurement process, the Administrative Unit has arranged for a number of Long Term Agreements (LTA) to procure in stock goods from qualified suppliers.
